The BLAST Premier international Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament series has signed a media rights agreement with the Gaming Channel, Israel’s first linear 24/7 esports and gaming TV channel.
According to the agreement, the Gaming Channel will hold exclusive rights to broadcast BLAST Premier in Hebrew in Israel until the end of the 2021 season.
According to a press release, The Gaming Channel, owned by the Charlton Group, launched in July as Israel’s first-ever dedicated esports and gaming linear TV channel.
Broadcasts from The Gaming Channel on linear TV include diverse content such as esports events, top YouTubers, and other entertainment-related material from the region.
The agreement will cover BLAST Premier’s final four events of the year, including the Fall Groups, Spring Showdown, Spring Final, and the World Final, which will take place in December.
Gaming Channel’s General Manager, Yoav Sochen, said: “I am thrilled to be working with BLAST Premier. Leading international leagues, operated and broadcast in Hebrew for the first time, connect professional players and esports fans to the Gaming Channel. I’m excited to see what this partnership can do for the Israeli scene.”
BLAST Premier, which will debut in 2020, will feature seven events with a combined prize pool of just under $2.5 million.
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a major impact on the BLAST Premier series, forcing all events except for the Spring regular season to move online and reducing prize pools in some cases.
BLAST, on the other hand, has made a number of new alliances in 2021, including Coinbase, CS.MONEY, L33T Gaming, EPOS, and Magnum.
This year’s Fall Final will mark the long-anticipated return of BLAST to live events with fans at Copenhagen’s iconic Royal Arena, per the announcement.
It’s an honour for us at BLAST to be able to provide BLAST Premier fans in Israel with the opportunity to watch their favourite Counter-Strike teams and players in a localised Hebrew broadcast, and we’re thrilled to expand our global media rights footprint by adding Israel.”
As a result, “The Gaming Channel and its experienced team are the perfect partners for our move into the Israeli market.”
