Sweden-based esports platform Challengermode announced Thursday that it has partnered with multi-platform web browser Opera GX (a gaming-focused version of the popular browser) to create a fund for grassroots esports competitions.

The initial amount of the fund will be $30K USD, and will be made available to tournament organizers in the U.S., UK, and Germany for tournaments focused on such games as Valorant, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, and Teamfight Tactics.

The fund, according to a release, is aimed at spurring growth at the grassroots level, as opposed to other funds that typically focus on “path to pro” tournaments. Challengermode says that these funds will help grassroots organizers “scale up and cut costs while simultaneously providing them with a scalable platform to reduce overheads.”

To be eligible for the fund there are some requirements: applications will need to have run one tournament successfully on the Challengermode platform, be in the eligible region, and will have to carry Opera GX branding in the promotion of their events. Applications close in August.
