Dogecoin can now help real dogs— And so can BTC, ETH, and many others. PAWS Chicago, an animal rescue organization, has just announced that it will start to accept crypto donations.

On Tuesday, the organization announced the move that it will accept crypto to support itself ahead of its new hospital launch for cats and dogs without a home. By adding this new donation method, PAWS aims to target “a tech-savvy demographic of potential donors”.

The organization is using digital billboards with a dog shooting lasers out of its eyes for promotion. Because of Dogecoin’s relevance as a meme coin with the icon of a dog, posters for donations are based on it. Since the announcement, many news media outlets have coined the term ‘dogenations’.

We are eager to connect with the growing cryptocurrency community, who can help sustain the future of animal welfare in Chicago and save animals’ lives,” said PAWS Chicago CEO Susanna Homan about the move.

As per the animal rescue, the money from crypto donations will give its goals the push they need. PAWS works to reduce the number of shelter animals that are euthanized in the US by spaying and neutering them. So far, they’ve provided for 300,000 such surgeries in 25 years of operation. In fact, they’ve helped to reduce the number of homeless animals killed in the Chicago area by 91%. With the new hospital, PAWS will improve its efforts to save animals even more.

In other news, meme coins seem to be falling back in the middle of the current crypto bull run. As such, the top 5 have fallen by at least 5% in the last 24 hours.
