Jumped into Square Enix’s Outriders and wondering how to save your game? Here’s everything you need to know.
A shooter RPG filled with loot and adventure, Outriders sees you play as a titular Outrider as you explore the dangerous terrain of a new planet. With lots of character progression to make, new equipment to find and a story to progress through, it’s important that your game saves regularly. But how do you do that? Thankfully, saving in Outriders is very straightfoward.
Since Outriders is an always-online game, you have no option to manually save. That’s right; you don’t save your game. It automatically saves for you, so you don’t have to worry (hopefully) about losing progress.

There are caveats, though, and you’re best off quitting the game only at certain points to ensure you don’t lose any critical progress. As you make your way through the game, you’ll come across ‘safe’ locations, and out in the field you’ll have opportunities to put down a flag. These flags act as checkpoints and fast travel locations. If you quit the game whenever you’ve reached a safe town or a flag, you’ll know your progress will be saved.
On the other hand, if you quit in the middle of a mission, it’s likely you’ll need to start the mission over – or at least your current battle. So make sure to quit the game at safe locations so you don’t have to repeat any progress.
Happy hunting out there, Outrider.
