The “old cottage” at Kooroongarra

A Queensland acreage property that comes with an old “farm cottage” and loads of “yard art” is under offer.

Located at Kooroongarra on the Darling Downs, the 1147.61ha property was listed for offers over $600,000.

It consists of one 45.451ha freehold lot and two leasehold lots of 112.907ha and 989.254ha.

“There is loads of yard art (JUNK) scattered around the cottage with some old trucks, vehicles, machinery, scrap metal and the list goes on,” the listing by Rural Land Group agents Wayne Seymour and Paul Kutija says.

“But as the saying goes, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure.

“I see some good value in scrap metal and salvage that could provide some quick instant cash or future projects.”

There is also a “very old timber shed that is falling down near the cottage” as well as a “poultry” yard which seems to be fenced with some shelter.

“An old set of steel stock yards is set up which seems to be usable and in good condition,” the listing says.

Bordered by state forest, with large grazing and crop farms as well as olive groves, adventure retreats and rural lifestyle properties surrounding it, the property has an abundance of Australian native animals, including kangaroos, wallabies, wild deer, pigs, hares, koalas, emu, goannas and many varieties of birds including the great wedge-tailed eagle.

There is also “well over 50km of your own dirt roads for bike or horse rides or 4WD adventures”.

The two leasehold lots are forestry properties, with a “rolling lease with automatic 50 year renewal”.

There is 12 years remaining, with lease payments of $313 per quarter, the listing says. .
