Source Node: 802813

MLB The Show 21 is exactly two weeks away from launch, and the latest installment in this beloved baseball series may be one of the top sports titles of the year.

We now know the MLB The Show 21 cover athlete, as well as his legendary deluxe edition counterpart, and each has played a key role into the build towards release.

Latest – MLB The Show 21 cover athlete injury could be season-ending

While MLB The Show isn’t known to have a “cover athlete curse” the likes of Madden or other titles, young star Fernando Tatis Jr. is facing a potentially season-ending injury after yesterday’s game.

MLB The Show 21 is due to be released two weeks from today with Fernando Tatis Jr. on the cover, but today he’s reportedly scheduled for an MRI to determine the severity of what is “very likely” to be a “labral tear,” per orthopedic surgeon Dr. Michael Banffy.

While exact details are unclear, hopefully it turns out to be less severe than feared and MLB The Show 21 cover athlete Fernando Tatis Jr. can keep swinging for the fences this season.

MLB The Show 21 Cover Athlete

The MLB The Show 21 cover athlete this year will be none other than Fernando Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres.

NEXT GEN: Fernando Tatis Jr is a fitting choice this year

For the first time in years, MLB The Show 21 will not be a PlayStation exclusive game, which means Tatis Jr. will be on the cover of PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S versions.

Fernando Tatis Jr. makes perfect sense as the MLB The Show 21 cover athlete, as sports games love to put an up-and-coming young name on the front of the box.

Tatis Jr. certainly fits this bill and is seen by many as baseball’s next big superstar.
