Being able to buy a beachfront home for $500,000 sounds too good to be true – but in this case, it’s not.

A home in the seaside town of Nene Valley, which is in the state’s South East about 30km southwest of Mount Gambier, has hit the market with a surprisingly affordable price.

The three-bedrom house at 7 Glynn Drive is one of few properties in the area to have direct access to the beach from its backyard.

Selling agent Wendy Flint, of Malseeds Real Estate, said it could be the perfect weekender or Airbnb.

“It’s almost too good to be true,” she said.

“There are 15 houses maximum on the beachfront so it’s a very rare opportunity.

“You can’t get a much better place than that for the price.”

Ms Flint said there had been interest from as far as Adelaide and as close at Mount Gambier, with many keen to move to the small town.

“People are moving there more and more now,” she said.

“The coast is beautiful, it has lovely private beaches all along it.”

Ms Flint said the owner, who ran it as an Airbnb, was selling it for a change.

The quaint stone home has an open kitchen, dining and living room, which flows onto an undercover outdoor entertainment area.

There is a second living area at the front of the property, as well as three bedrooms and one bathroom.

It also has a garden shed, a new $3000 bore pump, a new hot water service and two new rainwater tanks.

According to property records, the house last sold in October last year for $390,000.
