The New Jersey Economic Development Authority Board has approved entering into a memorandum of understanding with Stockton University to support the creation of an esports Innovation Center at the university’s Atlantic City campus

The NJEDA will provide $200K USD in funding while providing staff support for the Esports Innovation Center. The plan includes helping establish Atlantic City “as a hub for the rapidly growing esports industry.”

The center will focus its attention on infusing resources into industry growth by identifying “industry-wide technology development opportunities” and hosting various events such as “hack-a-thons” and other coding challenges.

Additionally, the Center will also cooperate and work with the Division of Gaming Enforcement and other independent bodies that govern competitive integrity to position New Jersey as a national leader in regulation and integrity practices for esports. The initiative will look to promote diversity and inclusion and healthy gaming practices in the esports space.
