Chinese internet giant Tencent announced at the Singapore Fintech Festival 2021 that it will be partnering with the Asian Institute of Digital Finance (AIDF), an institute within the National University of Singapore (NUS) that is jointly founded by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the National Research Foundation (NRF).

Under the partnership, Tencent Financial Technology (FiT) and AIDF will collaborate in the areas of research, education, and entrepreneurship to better support Asia’s fast-growing digital finance industry.

In addition to organising industry events and bespoke training programmes, the areas of collaboration will also include research into deep-tech solutions that will address real-world problems.

The research will focus on areas such as cross-border payment for the continued growth of the industry and the benefits of the society.

Tencent FiT and AIDF will also offer curated training and development initiatives for employees as well as internship programmes for the institute’s students to develop Singapore’s talent pool.

Additionally, an annual research challenge competition will be jointly launched for the institute’s students and participating fintech startups under the AIDF incubator programme.
