In 2021, Filipino celebrities have shown their interest in NFTs. Artists like Nadine Lustre, Heart Evangelista, Pia Wurtzbach, Kris Lawrence, and Yassi Pressman and the Norwood siblings have entered the NFT space.
Recently, Michael V., together with Team Kramer and Marc Abaya, has also announced his interest and is entering the space himself through the Anotoys Collectiverse.
Are there more celebrities out there who are into NFTs?
(What is NFT? Check out the BitPinas guide here.)
Bored Punks of Society Holders
Bored Punks of Society shared on their social media the Filipino celebrities who are confirmed holding their profile picture (PFP) avatars. One of them is Derek Ramsey holding BPOS #126.
Nico Bolzico, husband of Solenn Heussaff, and Erwan Heussaff, host of the YouTube channel FEATR, are holding #3894 and #7361, respectively.
Dalia Varde Khattab is known for her role in “He’s Into Her”, a Philippine teen romance comedy television series. She owns a YouTube channel mainly showcases make-up vlog videos. She also holds a Bored Punk.
Roxie Baeyen, Miss Earth Philippines 2020, flexed her BPOS #253 on her Instagram account.
Good Games Society Holder
The son of Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquio, Michael, is also holding an NFT from Good Games Society.
Good Game Society is the collection of 10,000 unique, hand-drawn NFT collectibles launched on the Polygon Network by gamers, for gamers.
Aswang NFT Holder
KC Montero, Vice President of Kumu, is holding an NFT from the Aswang NFT project. In a Twitter Space of Filipinas NFT, KC Montero expressed that he was talking more about NFTs than Kumu.
Kumu is a Pinoy community platform where its users can hang out, explore the many live streams, and meet and chat with fellow Filipinos all around the world.
There is no doubt that the steady growth of the NFT space in the Philippines has reached new heights. What was once a niche interest amongst crypto-goers and tech-nerds is now paraded in showbiz. More celebrities joining the community means more mainstream media attention and more eyes on blockchain technology. Hopefully, this leads to further exposure for people who have not heard about NFTs and paves a road to educate more Filipinos about the technology behind it.
